Bartlett Park Extension Project

Dear Members,

You will be aware of the Club’s long term aim to further develop the Bartlett Park site, to enable it to improve and expand in the coming years.

Well, on Wednesday 10th February, the Club submitted a planning application to Basildon Council for the next phase of the development.

This phase would see major infrastructure put in place, including a vastly extended Clubhouse (approx. three times the size of the current building) and significantly increased parking.

The new Clubhouse will feature a function room, meeting room, larger kitchen, medical room and additional changing facilities & toilets.

This will benefit the Club enormously, as we will be able to house our own functions and team get-togethers, provide shelter at training and on matchdays, and also become a central hub for the community.

It will also put the Club in prime position for additional development in following years, to increase the number of pitches on site.

 

The planning application submitted also coincides with a bid for funding, to help the Club meet the cost of the expansion.

The Chairman and the Committee have been working hard over the last few months with partners at the FA and Football Foundation, to show that we meet the strict criteria for investment.

This is the main reason for the lack of communication coming out of the Club recently … the plans had to be quite secretive to ensure the bid was not compromised, before the 12th February deadline. 

We are please to confirm that our bid was submitted on time and with support from the associated bodies, so we are very hopeful it will be successful.

 

However, although our planning application and funding bids are at advanced stages, nothing has been formally approved yet.

This is where you as members of the Club can help.

Public support for the scheme would further boost our chances of success.

This support could come from friends, family, members of the local community, schools, team sponsors, local businesses … and of course those most affected, the players and members of the Club.

The support would be best received as formal letters to the Club (given to Chairman Clive Lodge, or any members of the Executive Committee), or as emails (sent to info@wickfordtown.co.uk).

Also, any support and promotion through the various forms of social media would be great, just remember to ‘tag’ the Club when you do so (also take a screenshot and send to the email address above).

The deadline for comments to the Basildon Council planning application is this Wednesday, the 2nd March … and the deadline for comments to be given to the Football Foundation is Friday 11th March.

It would be fantastic if we have the whole club pulling together on this … the opportunities for our children and the future of the Club really does look bright !!!
